Wonderbly

Product Design / UX / UI and Research & Insights

Wonderbly is an award winning personalised children’s picture book published headquartered in London since 2012. Since then they have gone on to sell over 3 million books in over 200 countries around the world.

Dominic was hired by the then COO Tal, to support the publishing company by improving the user experience of their e-commerce store. His desire was to improve conversion by at least 3% as the business approached the festive period. Dominic partnered with Will the Lead Designer on the project to deliver the work.

Tal was very keen for the team to begin the design process with a Design Sprint methodology formed by Google Ventures. The Sprint is a five-day process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping and testing ideas with customers.

Design Sprint

The Sprint would consist of what’s known as the ‘greatest kits’ of business strategy, innovation, behaviour science, design thinking and more. Below you will see some of the sketches produced by the team over the 5 day period that Dominic took part in and worked on synthesising the findings to begin the next phase.

Inside the Product

Close the conclusion of the Design Sprint, the team discovered that one of the consistent pieces of feedback that customers were providing - was they wanted to see what the book’s looked liked on the inside. Dominic and Will begun working on the concept of a quick preview - to enable customers to see what each story/book would look like inside.

Visual & Interface Design

Dominic and Will worked together to come up with a variation of key pages to test and handover to the engineer to build, once we had finalised the phase of testing. Below you will see a glimpse of the various visual ideas composed by partnership.
